History in the making

The college draws its name from the Maharani Chand Kour who was brave daughter-in-law of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and wife of Maharaja Kharak Singh. Maharani spent her last years in Jammu serving the people. A school building was constructed in 1959 near the samadhi of Rani Chand Kour in her memory. Later the school was upgraded to College of Education in the year 1989 for imparting training to the teachers. Since then the college is growing by leaps and bounds in bringing out the best teachers.

The college has performed outstandingly through all these years rolling out the record number of positions and distinctions with a pass percentage of over 98% every year.

Affiliation

The college is permanently affiliated to University of Jammu with a sanctioned strength of 300 students for imparting instructions in Bachelor of Education Course. The college is also recoganised by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir. The college being a minority status institution is authorised to make admissions upto 50% of total intake at its own. Remaining 50% seats are filled through University of Jammu. The admissions are done strictly on merit basis.

Location

The college is located on the banks of river Tawi and is one KM from University of Jammu. Railway station is about two KMs away and General Bus stand is about 1 KM from the college. The college has a beautiful river side view and is centrally located in the city of Jammu.

Jammu is also know as the City of Temples and shrines with a beautiful picturesque, flora and fauna. millions of visitors arrive here every year to pay their obeisance to the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi and other religious places.
